This journey began back in 2014, I rescued a staffy called Milo who was insanely reactive, I struggled to enjoy life with him as taking him outside the house was such a struggle, he would bark and lunge, run off after anything and just generally didn’t listen to a word I said! After going through many many different trainers it occurred to me, no one seemed to be talking about why, because ultimately that’s what needs addressing. Behaviour is communication and there is always a why.
So I began studying and researching what was going on behind these behaviours and my life instantly changed, his behaviour changed and he seemed so much happier. I knew I had to change career to start helping as many dogs as I could, I started working at a vets and qualified as a canine hydrotherapist, I became fascinated with how pain can affect behaviour and delving further into the theory behind behaviour. After a wonderful and interesting career at the vets I became pregnant with my first child, during my maternity leave Stag Canine was born. Named after the Stag theatre in the town centre I have now helped hundreds of local dog owners rehabilitate their dog behaviour, using researched, kind, effective methods. I like to get to know the owners and dogs who I am working with so we can develop the best training plans that can fit into your life.
